If, as the press coming out of that part of the world would have you believe, Israel’s goal with the blockade of Gaza is to starve the people and destroy their economy, then Israel is doing a terrible job of it!

From The American Spectator:
“We cannot control the firing of these rockets from Gaza,” explained Maen Areikat, the deputy head of the negotiations department for the Palestinian Authority.
Interesting, to say the least. The PA can’t control Hamas, yet they want peace. How can this possibly end good?

While it is possible, this smells more like propaganda than anything. The Palestinian Authority has mastered using Western media to gain sympathy, and this just looks to be another attempt at that.

“Jordan is Palestine” Plan is Receiving Attention
By Hillel FendelJordan is in an uproar over the revival of the “Jordanian option” – the thesis that Jordan is the true home to the “Palestinians.” Reports that a top advisor to US Presidential candidate John McCain is promoting this idea have led to a flurry of press reports in the Arab media, as well as a denial from Jordan’s King Abdullah himself.

Kind of a tricky situation here, I guess. It seems to me that, since Jordan was to be the Muslim part of “Palestine” when the British pulled out and the U.N. carved up that part of the World, this line of thinking makes sense (and, for the record, it’s a line of thought I could get behind). However, if you’re convinced your family was pushed out of its homeland in 1948, would you want to move, or try to get back what you felt had been stolen?
All that to say, while it makes sense, I don’t see the international community supporting “Jordan is Palestine.”
Palestinians know rocket fire is bad, but support it anyway

In the Biblical story of Solomon and the 2 women who claim the same baby, it would seem the Palestinian people could relate to the woman who wanted the baby cut in half; they’d rather nobody get the land than they not have it all.

So, Saddam was planning a possible attack on Israel with Yasser Arafat. Why am I not surprised?
