Obama Vs. Israel: Settlements Straining Relationship

March 16, 2010 by Justin View Comments

The following links were on The Drudge Report this morning:

Obama runs out of patience with Israel

US envoy cancels Mideast trip amid US-Israel feud

US Israel criticism ignites firestorm in Congress

Netanyahu defies U.S. over Jerusalem settlement

None of this is surprising, though.  Obama’s sympathies are on the Islamic side of the Arab-Israeli conflict; we’ve known this from day one.  In addition, peace is always placed above Israel’s national security in these situations.  All I can say is that I really hope Israel stands its ground here.  At the end of the day the Jewish state is an independent nation, and really needs to stop buckling to U.S. pressure and take care of its own needs.

Biden Scolds Israel Again

March 10, 2010 by Justin View Comments

With all due respect Mr. Vice President, who the hell do you think you are? Peace is not achieved through the giving up of land, and regardless of how much of a super power the U.S. is, the United States has no right to tell the government of another country where they can and cannot build within the confines of their own territory.

I realize that big brass ring labeled “Peace In The Middle East” has been enticing Presidents for decades (Bush promised a Palestinian state by the end of ’08 in a last-ditch to have that as his legacy), but seriously, Israel giving up half of Jerusalem and going to the 1948 borders won’t end anything. As long as there’s a Jewish state in the Middle East, that state’s neighbors will cause trouble.

Lame Duck Bush Promises To Keep Iran In Check

December 5, 2008 by Justin View Comments

From Haaretz:

U.S. President George W. Bush reiterated his pledge that the United States will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons in a wide ranging speech on the Middle East Friday.

Full Article

You know, one of the things I’ve respected about Bush is his support of Israel (though his desire to form a Palestinian State during his administration often clouded his judgement).  However, does his word really matter now?  He’s out of office in a month, so what really matters right now is the next guy’s stance on Iran’s nuclear aspirations.

Bush: Israel Giving Away The Golan Heights For Nothing

November 30, 2008 by Justin View Comments

Probably the most promising thing Dubya has said involving Israel in a long time.

U.S. President George Bush believes that Israel is offering Syria the Golan Heights without getting anything in exchange, according to sources briefed on his White House meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert last week.

Bush Administration To Olmert: Stay Out Of Iran & Gaza

November 26, 2008 by Justin View Comments

You know, I hear Dubya is the most pro-Israel President we’ve ever had.  I have to disagree.  Yes, he did a lot of good for the Jewish State, but I honestly feel his desire to be the guy who negotiates peace between Israel and “Palestine” blinded him to being a true ally for Israel.

The Bush administration warned outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert not to stage an attack on Iran or stage an all-out assault on Hamas in Gaza, TIME reported Tuesday, quoting senior Defense Ministry officials.

The two leaders met and dined together Monday during the Prime Minister’s farewell visit, but the warning previously was issued by senior American officials. They are worried that Israel will use the period before President-elect Barack Obama takes office to attack Iran’s nuclear plant.

No Syrian Love For Sarah Palin

October 3, 2008 by Justin View Comments

A Syrian news service, jumped on Sarah Palin’s declaration about moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem to declare (in horror) that McCain would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel. Of course, the United States does recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel but President after President has come up with excuses for not moving our Embassy to Jerusalem.

Always focusing on the negative…

In all seriousness, moving the embassy to Jerusalem isn’t as big a deal as it’s made out to be.  It’s the political equivalent of the U.S. going to watch Israel play in a softball game; it shows support, but doesn’t display any actual involvement.

My bigger concern was Sarah jumping on the two-state bandwagon.  Of course, that’s probably a point the Syrians supported.

Obama: Terror groups have ‘legitimate claims’
By Aaron Klein

The Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations have “legitimate claims” that are being “weakened” by the violence the terror groups carry out, Sen. Barack Obama stated in an interview today with the New York Times.

Both organizations want the demise of Israel. That’s a legitimate claim?

Sarah Palin…Christian Zionist?

‘Sarah Palin is a Christian, and Christians support Israel’
By Israel Today Staff

An online video interview with Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin that is currently making the rounds appears to put to rest liberal rumors that she is no friend of Israel.

She’s sporting a small Israeli flag in her office, and another as a lapel pin in an interview that has nothing to do with courting Jewish special interest groups!

I am diggin’ this lady!

Perhaps I Wrote Off Huckabee a Little too Soon

August 20, 2008 by Justin View Comments

Arutz Sheva has some interesting interviews and footage featuring former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee on his recent trip to Israel:

First, “The Chief Rabbi of Talk Radio” Tovia Singer interviews him. Point of interest: Huck believe Israel should not return to the pre-1967 borders. Click here for the interview.

Second, Arutz Sheva has a news report from Huckabee’s visit to Sderot:
