Seriously, Mr. Tancredo?

July 12, 2010 by Justin View Comments

You know, there was a point in time where a pretty large group of people wanted to “draft” Thomas Tancredo to run for governor of Colorado. Tancredo passed on that, choosing instead to tour the country making outrageous claims against the President.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I think something needs to be done about the illegal immigration issue, and President Obama’s increase in executive and overall federal government power needs to be reversed. However, I cannot stand behind Tancredo. This is the type of “lunatic fringe” speech that paints us all in a bad light. Tancredo is a big name, and that big name representing the “crazier” side of the conservative/libertarian contingent will get more press than anyone else. It makes us all look bad, and I don’t really care to be lumped in with that contingent.

Biden Scolds Israel Again

March 10, 2010 by Justin View Comments

With all due respect Mr. Vice President, who the hell do you think you are? Peace is not achieved through the giving up of land, and regardless of how much of a super power the U.S. is, the United States has no right to tell the government of another country where they can and cannot build within the confines of their own territory.

I realize that big brass ring labeled “Peace In The Middle East” has been enticing Presidents for decades (Bush promised a Palestinian state by the end of ’08 in a last-ditch to have that as his legacy), but seriously, Israel giving up half of Jerusalem and going to the 1948 borders won’t end anything. As long as there’s a Jewish state in the Middle East, that state’s neighbors will cause trouble.

The Infamous Audi “Green Police” Super Bowl Ad

February 7, 2010 by Justin View Comments

Before making a big deal out of it, I want to know how many people out there would seriously support this type of code enforcement.

Stimulating The Dead

May 15, 2009 by Justin View Comments

To be fair, dead people are the poorest voters out there, and they do vote Democrat. Why wouldn’t the government help them out?

Obama To Trim Budget By $100,000,000

April 20, 2009 by Justin View Comments

So, President Obama has asked a few federal departments to figure out a way to cut $100 million from the budget.  Cuts are good, but the overall Obama budget is $3.55 trillion (HT: The Drudge Report).  So, to put this in numbers most people can understand, this is the equivalent of someone with an annual salary of $35,500 taking a pay cut of $1.

Why, oh why, do I think this is all just for show?

California Is Struggling: 8th Largest Economy In The World On The Verge Of Bankruptcy

February 17, 2009 by Justin View Comments

From The LA Times:

In addition to shutting down public-works projects, Schwarzenegger administration moves toward massive state layoffs as legislators again fail to garner the final GOP vote needed to pass a budget.

Now, the Republicans are looking like the bad guys based on the above statement.  However, it looks like they’re fighting a tax increase, which is good, as a tax break is more likely to help the economy than tying up everyone’s disposable income with more taxes.

Cali needs something, but this ain’t it.
